Welcome to Costa Rica

Upon arrival, a private transportation will be awaiting for you on the airport’s exit. 

After this, you will be greeted by your driver and taken towards the transport that takes you to your hotel for the night, this would take around 40 minutes, depending on your arrival time. 

You will be staying in a real historical edification, as Grand Hotel Costa Rica has been greeting travelers since 1930 and has unmatched views of National Theater and Plaza de La Cultura (which hosts Central Bank’s Museums on the subterranean levels). This was a place of encounter for merchants, famed and hierarchs, back in the day; you can rest assured, the pose and elegance of the rooms and halls certainly match for expectancies, even nowadays.  

Enjoy a smooth night with some of the piano music after strolling the surrounding areas of your hotel, getting to know locals or simply enjoying a cup of tea in National Theater’s renowned cafeteria.

Jungle Visit in Tortuguero

Some visits come with an early start; around 6:00 a.m you will be greeted at the lobby to meet the guide for your jungle experience. 

You will be heading through Braulio Carrillo National Park’s Route 32 towards Guapiles; on the way, dense forests and amazing morning views will take part on either side of the road whilst your guide introduces you to facts of our natural and socio-political history in a comfortable and secure transport with other travelers sharing your destination. You will be provided with a light box breakfast during the commute. 

After a quick stop for a buffet lunch with all tico-style deliciousness, you will continue through secondary roads knowing the local lifestyle and ambiance with your guide and transportation until you get to the dock. 

There, you will embark on the jungle-like boat ride of about 1.5 hours that will cruise through the river and allow you to observe wetland birds, manaties, crocodiles and all the wildlife you can imagine for the area. Upon arrival at the lodge, you will check-in your jungle bungalow and rest during the afternoon. It is possible to wander in your lodge’s gardens and get a personal feeling of the Caribbean warmth.

Canal Safari and Town Visit

Jungle noises will awaken you, the howler monkeys or bird chirping by your room will mark the start of your day. 

A full tasty buffet will greet you with fresh coffee and seasonal fruits along with all the Caribbean feel are in order before setting to know the National Park’s more guarded canals: protected and diverse mangrove forests draped in orchids and bromeliads home to an assortment of monkeys and sloths, unmatched for boat observing along with your guide who will spot and alert on the most sightful individuals as herons, egrets, reptiles, snakes and more. 

After lunch, back at the hotel, you will set to know Tortuguero Town and see up-close the local lifestyle and rustic development, led mainly by tourism, the protected area and efforts to make this a blooming town for its inhabitants, as much as for its visitors.

Arenal Volcano and Hot Springs

A more relaxed morning is in order and after breakfast, you will leave by boat back to the starting dock whilst having the last sights on the way. 

Upon arriving at the restaurant and enjoying lunch, you will be changing to a private transportation with full comfort to take you towards your next destination: Arenal Volcano. 

After an approximation of 3 hours in which you will pass by several rural towns, you will arrive at your lodge for check in. 

After a swim-suit-up, you will be able to soak your worries away in your hotel’s thermal-mineral pools while benefiting from all the good implications to your body and soul.

Your night is off to enjoy your own restaurant selection for dinner, Anchio Restaurant is a good recommendation for ambiance and personalized touch, make sure to call before-hand to ensure table availability.

Sloths, Waterfall and Volcano Views

Up early for a sightful experience with some very furry friends; La Fortuna hosts the 2 variations of sloth for Costa Rica (Two and Three toed Sloths) and you will get to sight them today. 

After being picked up at your lobby, you will head to the reservation that has been designed to sight as many of these furry friends as possible, whilst doing so, an in-depth explanation from your guide will make you a sloth expert. 

After this, you will be heading towards the entrance to La Fortuna Waterfall, as a must see attraction while in the area, some 500 steps will led you down to this amazing water stream of more than 70 meters! There, you will be able to bathe in its cool waters before setting up for a change of clothes and a traditional tico lunch, “Casado”. 

After lunch, you will head with your guide towards Arenal Volcano National Park “1968” Trail with the best views and access to sight Arenal Volcano and admire it; a 1-hour hike  will take you to the widest view available for the colossal dormant beauty while passing through its latest eruption in the year that gives the trail its name.  

After this, your night is at leisure to rest from a busy day of unique sights.

Scarlet Macaws and Ocean Views

After breakfast, set off with your private transportation towards the Central Pacific of Costa Rica. 

On the way, you will stop by Carara National Park, which literally means in a indigenous dialect “River of Crocodiles”, hosts in Tarcoles River a population of over 3000 crocodiles in only 52 km². 

This park is also home to an abundant number of Scarlet Macaws due to its transitional characteristic and allows visitors to observe Northern Tamanduas, alongside all sorts of birds and wildlife. 

After a tasty lunch, you will continue towards your hotel with unmatched views of the Pacific Coast, just in time for the sunset only these areas are able to provide

Manuel Antonio National Park
